Recent Events Wrap-Up and Upcoming Trainings

We've been having a lot of great events recently - did you catch the photos on our Facebook page?

On Saturday, January 19, ASAP students and families celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a wonderful Family Chess Day event at the African American Museum. Pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151332662977211.487676.83255897210&type=3

On Thursday, January 24, ASAP Scrabble students participated in the annual Winter Classic at the School District Headquarters! Students competed for prizes in many categories, including best education-related word and highest scoring game. Finally, the annual ASAP-PECO Checkmate Violence Chess Marathon happened this past weekend at Temple. Mayor Nutter came to show off his chess skills (and was soundly trounced by an ASAP chess student), Zhang Sah performed an amazing martial arts demonstration, and a record 270 competitors (plus another 130 supporters!) were in attendance to promote chess as a safe and engaging activity.
